Visiting with family

Britta had her first visit with Kevin, Nicole, and cousin Kalina last weekend. Kalina was excited to meet this new relation Britta, who closely resembled her doll. There was quite a size difference between Britta and Kalina; it's incredible to think how much Britta will grow in her first year.

The health nurse has been to visit twice, and has been thrilled at Britta's weight gain. At last measurement she is up to 6 lbs 14 oz! We have been changing Britta's outfits like Superman changes costumes to make sure that she wears them all. Sometimes it is a challenge to get a picture of them with the routine of sleeping, feeding, and changing!

First Father's Day

Britta's timing was impeccable. It meant that I was securely able to celebrate my first Father's Day. We dressed her in her Love Daddy onesie and had a relaxing day. It was the first day I was able to sleep in since she came home, which was a special treat.

That night, Kristine and I watched a movie together while Britta slept. Well, Kristine slept too after the first ten minutes.

The first week

It's hard to believe Britta is already a week old!

Kristine has recovered remarkably well and is completely moon-eyed over Britta. I am just a tad proud myself and I rush home from work to pick her up in my arms. She loves to kick!

Britta is very happy. If she is full with a clean diaper she is contentment itself. She lets her eyes droop and her body becomes a warm bundle draped over my arm.

I was a walking zombie the first night Britta and Kristine came home. The night passed in 20 minute intervals and the next day I nearly fell asleep on my desk. I'll get the hang of this new Dad business.

Jennica Taylor from JET Photography is doing some newborn photos for us today. The photo shoot was great and we can't wait to see the results!

Once Upon a Time...
